Mikumi national park

Ubungo

Ubungo is the large bus station of Dar where all the busses leave to reach every edge of the country. A law prohibit the night travel and most of the busses leave early in the morning to cover long distances. One can get into the bus station only with a ticket, inside the station there are hundrets of busses and the only way to find the right one is asking tens of times. Thousands of people are walking in the darkness in every directions trying to get to their bus or to sell drinks or foods to the travelers.

Mikumi

Between Morogoro and Iringa the bus travels through the Mikumi national park. Before and after the park the way was a never ending row of houses and small fields. In the park it was possible to observe bunches of african animals. Unfortunately the bus was either too fast or the animals were too far to take better pictures but the images on this page show a tipical view of this park.
southern highlands

Between Mikumi and Iringa the bus was traveling on a long steep to the southern highlands. The highlands consist in a plateau over 1000 meters rich in vegetation where most of the agricultural products of the country (tea, pineapples, mangos, avocados, potatos, tomatos) are produced. The climate is more tropical and once we got there we realized to be in the rain season. A lot of people were working on the fields along the street, mostly with hand tools. The people on the bus were friendly but I could only profit of the conversation with the ones speaking in english.
